From an elegant suite in New York’s legendary Waldorf Astoria hotel, Steve Cohen has been distinguishing himself as a state-of-the-art magician and mind reader. Performing for celebrities, royalty, government officials, and other VIP’s, he pulls off his illusions with intensity and class—and has received widespread media recognition and praise.
“My magic is more of a thinking man’s magic. Most of it happens in your head.”
Recreating the intimacy of popular 19th century parlor performances, Cohen (who can always be found sporting a dapper tuxedo) asks that audience members dress to impress in cocktail attire. Creating an intimate setting, the guest list is limited so everyone can see magic “up close,” and an adults-only mandate keeps the Chamber Magic show lively and sophisticated.
He models his performance after those of the conjurors who entertained members of the old European aristocracy, and prefers subtle mind tricks over pulling rabbits out of hats. “I don’t do big, flashy magic,” he told The New York Times. “My magic is more of a thinking man’s magic. Most of it happens in your head.”
Cohen, who is known as the Millionaires’ Magician, has made a fortune performing tricks for some of the richest people in America. He is regularly flown from coast to coast in posh private jets, entertaining the likes of people such as the Queen of Morocco, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, and Martha Stewart. Woody Allen has called the performance “a religious experience.”
